I'm so sorry card

I'm always trying to figure out new ways to add ribbon to my projects without the adhesive showing through. I used Mod podge on this card to adhere my ribbon. I always start making a card by cutting a card front. Even if it's the same color as the card. The card front is my table top of the card with multiple layers. When I finish decorating the card front I adhere it to the card base. This way nothing shows on the inside of the card like brads, eyelets, ribbon, sewing, etc. For this card I wrapped the lace around the card front using Mod Podge on both sides to make the lace stay put. The best part about it is it worked. I loved the way it turned out and would def do it again.
Stamp is in a set called Note-ables. It's a great mix of sentiments for all types of cards. I used patterned paper by DCWV, Spellbinders die cuts and Ranger Distressing inks.
Thanks for looking.

A peony for your thoughts

With all of the warm weather we have had lately, it feels more like late June. That got me thinking about peonies and...voila, a new card theme! I loved colouring this Stamp N Plus peony basket stamp with my Prismacolor pencils. It has such detail and just calls for pretty colours. I fussy cut around it and placed a tiny doily behind. That was placed over a label shape (template) of pink dotted paper. The edges of the label were inked and faux stitched.

The corners were rounded of the next two layers of brown cardstock and the same pink paper and the peony stack was adhered to the center. Pink flat back pearls were added to the points...love the little details :)

Finally, the sentiment was written on the computer, traced around using another template, and inked around the edges. It makes a pretty card that would work as a thank you, a birthday, or "just cuz".

Thanks so much for visiting!

Nick's Graduation Card

My niece's son, Nick, is graduating from high school.  I asked her what the class colors were and she answered Columbia blue for the cap and gown with a red, white and baby blue tassel.  This is a www.stampnplus.com iris fold stamp IR-F-171 boy grad.  The cap is paper-pieced and I used embroidery thread to fashion the tassel.  A tiny roll of paper with a red thread tie make up the diploma.  Some rhinestone stars complete the design.

Meow

This jaunty little sailor cat is from the Patti's Kids collection at Stamp'N Plus Scrap'N.  You can find the image HERE.  He's called "Sailor Sam" and he comes in two sizes.  He is so much fun to color and perfect for a summer birthday card!  I decided to "distress" the card a little, using black ink.

The patterned paper is by Making Memories, die cuts by Spellbinders, sticker by K and Co, embossing folder by Provo Craft, ink by Close to my heart and Stampin Up with cardstock by Recollections. The stamp is by Stamp N Plus but is not on the website as of today. Soon to be added.

To the Moon, Alice!

Those of you old enough to remember the Honeymooners with Jackie Gleason and Art Carney will remember that phrase!

The sweet card I created for this Wednesday post has a completely different message containing the same phrase. As soon as I saw this celestial stamp, I knew the sentiment I wanted to use with it: I love you to the moon and back.

I used the brightest and shiniest yellow cardstock I could find in my stash and mounted that on black to ground it. Then I used a Martha Stewart all over the page punch to create the star border strip from a leftover piece of the same black.

The man in the moon was coloured with my Prismacolor pencils and a little OMS was used to blend it. I used a template to create the label shape to which I added a doodled border. It just called out for that extra touch of whimsy.

I used my computer to write the message and then cut it out as a banner which was matted with black cardstock and faux stitched with my Micron pen. Both the moon label and the center of the banner were popped up on foam tape to add dimension.

Surprisingly (and almost shocking for me), I didn't add any bling or glitter to this card! What's up with that?

Thanks for visiting!

Chelsea Is Graduating!

My granddaughter, Chelsea, is graduating from 8th grade this month.  I'm very proud of her and her accomplishments.  She is consistently on the honor roll, a member of student council, a peer counselor, recently received a Citizenship Award and starred in her school's first musical production of Annie, Jr. as Miss Hannigan.

Her school colors are green and gold and the graduation gowns are gold.  I chose this iris fold stamp from www.stampnplus.com.  This girl graduation stamp is I-FR-172.  I used a metallic gold paper for the iris fold and used the same gold paper to paper-piece the cap.  A green brad and a bit of frayed green ribbon completed the cap.  A tiny roll of paper tied with gold thread fashioned the diploma.  Chelsea loves bling so I had to add an over-the-top amount of glitz with these gemstones.  Head, hands and feet were colored with Prismacolor pencils.

I made a boy's graduation card too.  Come back next week on Monday to see the card I made with the boy iris fold graduation stamp.

Thinking of you

I made this simple card using patterned paper from DCWV, cardstock by Stampin Up, a flourish sticker by Chatterbox, die cut by Spellbinders, sentiment stamp by Stamp N Plus (#L1453) and ink by Ranger industries. The card base is by Studio G from Michael's. It comes with the decorative edge and I cut my paper to match it. While the die cut was still holding the paper I used my distressing tool to ink the edges. I love the look it gives. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Poppy Love

Happy Wednesday! It's so beautiful and warm that my flowers are growing like crazy. I can't wait for the poppies to begin to bloom. To satisfy that poppy craving, I created this simple card which could be used for any occasion.

I coloured the Stamp N Plus poppy stamp with my Prismacolor pencils. Then I cut the stacked label using a Paper Wishes template. I popped that up on foam tape to add dimension and adhered it to a CB embossed frame background.

To create repetition, a black mat was added between the red cardstock and the white card. A little handcut banner and a blingy brad added the last few details.

There's always something so dramatic about black and red and this stamp fits the colour scheme perfectly.
Thanks for sharing your Wednesday with us. We love it when you visit.

Just One More

Okay, so just one more Victorian card and then I will switch gears and move on to something else.  I saw this old timey shoe and saw lots of possibilities.  Here's my first effort using it.
I LOVE this image and sometimes I wish we still dressed in this fashion with the big full skirts and the beautiful lace and ribbon.  Those outfits could certainly hide lots of "body faults".  You can find this image HERE.  It is called "High Button Shoe."  I wonder if these are the kinds of shoes that you needed to button with one of those "hook thingys"?  If you enjoy this type of image, be sure to check out the selection at Stamp'N Plus Scrap'N

Pepe Pup's Happy Day!

TGIF---Already!  I don't know if Pepe Dancing a Jig (O-PP-94) because he's so happy it's Friday or if he's liking all those hydrants he has to choose from.  Pepe was stamped on some light brown velour paper with Black Stazon ink and shaded with a dark brown Prismacolor pencil to add some dimension and them cut out.  The fire hydrants were cut out of some designer paper I found at the scrapbook store.  They were already embossed which gives them a shiny, raised look.  I also used a designer paper with a bone print for the background.  I used Spellbinders to create the layers directly behind Pepe.  It's Friday night so Pepe is all decked out in a rhinestone color.  Some yellow polka dot ribbon was also added to the card.
You can find more Pepe and Fufu puppy stamps here:  http://www.stampaffair.com/catalog/pepeandfufupup/pepeandfufupup1.shtml

Mother's Day card

Happy Thursday all. I'm so excited to share my Mother's Day card with you. I made it a while back and have been waiting to show it. I used the Floral Bough border stamp to create the background. I would stamp part of the image off the cardstock and create a line of pretty flowers all the way up the card. Using my blending tool I created a shadow along the edges of the kraft cardstock. The sentiment stamp is from the Mother's Day stamp set

Something's fishy

Happy Wednesday! Was it me or did that week just fly by?  I just love this cute fish stamp (F963) from Stamp N Plus Scrap N. He's so much fun to colour with Prismacolor pencils like this or with Copics or watercolours. I mounted him on the same purple cardstock as I used for the second background layer so that he would stand out next to the busy Me & My Big Ideas Tide Pool paper. Then of course he needed bubbles which I stamped and fussy cut from this bubbles background stamp (J1834). I added tiny rhinestones for the highlights in his eyes and bubbles. Gotta have a little bling! I used the computer for the sentiment which I mounted on purple and used a punch to scallop. Tiny faux stitching finished off this card. Now my little brain is busy thinking of other endings to "It's o-fish-al". This stamp is going to get a lot of use :)
Thanks for visiting. If another fun ending to this sentiment comes to you, please share it!

Puzzle Jester

I'm calling this card the Puzzle Jester.  The stamp is from the Altered Art Section of the online catalog and is stamp # Q3501.  The stamp was inked with Versamark Ink and stamped on white cardstock and heat enbossed with gold embossing power.  The stamp was stamped 2 more times on some stained glass designer paper from Paper Adventures using the Versamark and the Gold EP.  The puzzle pieces from the stained glass images were then cut out and the pieces glue on the original stamped image and on the corners.  The jester was then colored with Twinkling H2O's.  A Stampin Up punch was used on the matting corners.  Hope you like my colorful Puzzle Jester.

Victorian Beauty--the Sequel

I have taken a liking lately to some of the gorgeous Victoria style images that can be found at Stamp'N Plus Scrap'N.  This beauty is large enough to showcase on a six in square card.  The image is so luscious, it needs very little embellishment to make it look good.  Using the same image and paper, I embellished just a bit differently on each card.  I know this will be a stamp I will use often when I am in a Victorian mood.  You can find her  HERE at the Stamp'N Plus Scrap'N online store.

Happy Thursday

This week has been a crazy one. Please accept my apologies for posting so late in the day. I made this simple Get well card using the shell stamp (L2168) from Stamp N Plus. The backgrounds of the die cuts are painted with powdered chalk mixed with paint. I wish I could tell you the colors but I do a lot of mixing of colors until I get the color I am looking for. That's the fun part about powdered chalks.
I used Memento black ink and Ranger distressing ink Broken China. The bottle cap paper is painted with Stardust chalk and Elmer's glue. It gives it a sparkle that I think bottles have. The patterned paper is by Deja Views, floss by Karen Foster, die cuts by Spellbinders and eyelets by Making Memories.
Hey and don't forget to LIKE our Facebook page.

Welcome neighbours

Happy Wednesday. It's mid-week already! I made this sweet little card to welcome our new neighbours. It was fun colouring up the birdhouse stamp which you can find here. I used my Prismacolor pencils and then added a little bling to the flower centers and that sweet butterfly's body. I used a TH Movers and Shapers die to cut the shaped piece and then doodled around it to frame it up and add more whimsy.A black rectangle, a little scalloped edge on a scrap of paper on my table, some baby rickrack, and a computer generated message popped up on foam tape were all adhered to some bright yellow background paper. Then I had one of those Hmmmm moments where I knew it needed a little sumpin-sumpin but didn't know what. The lightbulb flashed and once I recovered from all that thinking:), I added a doodled stitched border. I can think of so many other uses for this stamp that I know you'll be seeing it again. Thanks for visiting!
